Kokum also known as “Garcinia indica” is a tropical evergreen fruit bearing tree from the mangosteen family. The plant yields dark red colored or yellow colored ( a rare variety of high medicinal importance ) fruits which are a rich source of nutrients, minerals(calcium, iron, manganese, potassium and zinc), vitamins ( A, B3, C), and dietary fibers. In addition they are abundant with bioactive compounds and have a high antioxidant activity ( know more about "Oxidative Stress & Antioxidants ). Based on research undertaken, it's "Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity" is higher than those reported for spices, fruits and vegetables. Primarily found in Western Ghats (especially the Konkan region) of India, it has been part of the Konkan culinary from generations.
Total hygiene is maintained at our food grade manufacturing facility while producing Kokum products and our process ensures that we retain highest efficacy of the medicinal components found in Kokum. Further our packaging is FSSC 22000 certified while the material ( i.e. glass ) is lead free, chemically inert and un-reactive.

Note : We wash, dry and debacterize the bottle/ jar before filling in the product.

An aqueous extract of Kokum fruits, it is free from any salt, additives, preservatives, thickeners, artificial colors, artificial flavors with it's natural flavor and taste intact. Known in Ayurveda for being useful to ease acidity and improve digestion, it can be consumed in one glass of water with 2 to 3 tablespoons of concentrate. It instantly refreshes and replenishes lost body fluids, leaving you energized and active even in peak summer temperatures.

 Ways to consume

The nutraceutical property of a fruit is determined by the metabolites like carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals and also the secondary metabolites such as phenols and flavonoids. In this regard,
1. Kokum has a high nutraceutical value and contains a key organic acid i.e. hydroxycitric acid (HCA).
2. It does not contain cholesterol or saturated fats.
3. It is low in calories and rich in dietary fibres.
4. Garcinol is the major active ingredient of Kokum and it has antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties.
5. It is an excellent cardiotonic ( i.e. strengthens the cardiovascular system while keeping heart healthy ) and does also safeguard the liver.

Note :
1. It is a popular summer drink in Konkan region of India from decades. We do not crush or squeeze or boil pulp to increase juice volume. Our method of juice extraction is sunlight driven and it is the only method to extract juice which helps to achieve medicinal efficacy.
2. The juice concentrate has a shelf life of approximately 12 months. Need to be kept in a cool & dry place at room temperature and absolutely no need to refrigerate.

A rich source of bioactive compounds i.e. xanthones, benzophenones, hydroxycitric acid(HCA), and anthocyanins(C3G (cyanidin-3-glucoside) & cyanidin-3-sambubioside). C3G is a powerful anti-oxidant. Anthocyanin value reported for Kokum is 24 mg / g approximately.

One of the key bioactive compound is Garcinol which helps to enhance anti-inflammatory property of Kokum thereby assist in weight loss ( i.e. bring down obesity caused due to inflammation ). This powder is being used to sour curries ( view examples ), vegetable dishes and acts as a good alternative to tamarind or tomato.
